"You Don't Need To Be Told That" (Blog #146)

Starting a health, wellness and fitness journey can be confusing. What type of training should I do? What types of foods do I eat? How many days a week do I train? How much Protein should I eat per day? How much Water do I drink? These are all great questions, and it's understandable why people get so confused these days, because there's so much information flying around on the internet. So lets slow things down and keep it simple....

I don't have to tell you that most American families eat out too many times per week!

I don't have to tell you that most Americans don't move enough!

I don't have to tell you that most diseases that the average American gets are self-inflicted and can be avoided!

I don't have to tell you that you don't sleep enough!

I don't have to tell you that you don't eat enough protein!

I don't have to tell you that you don't drink enough water!

I don't have to tell you that you skip the gym too often!

I don't have to tell you that you stress too much (#1 Killer)!

I don't have to tell you that you don't eat enough fruits and vegetables!

I don't have to tell you that eating out at fast food chains is killing you....Or do I?

Do people need to actually hear these things that seem to be common sense to most trainers and coaches? The answer is YES, people do need to hear these things to get on track and stay focused. Why would we as humans go out to eat junk food so often, rack up horrible credit card debt, and do things that we KNOW aren't good for us? I think the answer is simple, It's easier! Food shopping and cooking is harder. Watching after your finances and saying no to that seventy-five inch flat screen TV is tough. Making an annual doctors appointment for a check up is more work. Skipping the gym and laying on the couch is easier. But modern humans want things now and they want them the easy way.

Somewhere along the line, many people forgot that it takes hard work, dedication, consistency, specific goals and an iron will to get what they want. We now live in a world where you can make yourself obese and in debt up to your ears while laying on our couch, with your cell phone, watching the dumb box. You don't even have to leave the comforts of your home to wreak havoc on your wallet and on your waistline.

So here's what needs to happen: You need to change all that and do the hard things. Forget the easy route, it's for suckers! And while you're doing things the right way, you're going to motivate those around you. And we all need a little motivation.

To oversimplify things and keep it really simple, try this everyday:

Go to bed an hour earlier

Make Water your main fluid

Stop eating fast food

Turn your phones off at night

Have more sex

Smile More

Be nicer to people

Donate a few bucks to a good cause

Buy the guy behind you a coffee

Go ask your elderly neighbor if they need help with anything

Don't be an asshole

Stop wishing you were another human

Don't waste time being jealous / It only hurts you

Learn how to cook (there are some amazing classes out there)

"Shop the perimeter" when food shopping (avoid most foods all boxed up)

Pay people more compliments, and mean it

Train harder

Run Longer

Play more

Go out and have a drink with your partner and let loose more often

Wrestle with your kids

Read Books

Be a better saver ($)

Complain less

Be a Fearless Earth Stomper
